This print was another of those 'could have been a wallpaper' moments from a few months ago. Loosely based on the myth of Eve & Adam (because I wanted to do some snakes around this tree I had done in coloured pencil while staying at a friend's idyllic summer house in the Danish countryside where the garden was filled with berry bushes around its resplendent cherry tree), the overall image resembles a ram's head, or perhaps a bull; maybe an antelope or a springbok?

If I were an English teacher or an art critic I could weave some twisted tales about a feminist or secular perspective on the story in which the temptations and turmoils of the devil are depicted as balance through composition - but alas, I don't think I care that much.

"You knew it was a snake when you picked it up" is a quote/ episode title from one of my favourite tv shows; You're the Worst. In its essence, the show is about trying your hardest to be a little better than the days before. The conclusion of the show - spoiler - in which Jimmy declares that he will wake up and choose Gretchen every day, no matter how difficult, is one of the most beautiful, honest, takes on love I've seen depicted on screen.

Its a show about showing up as your authentic self and dealing with the consequences of being disliked - or indeed loved - for that. The quote is a take on the fable of the scorpion and the frog, in which the moral of the story is to accept others for who they present themselves to be and not who you wish they were. It tickles my autistic brain.
